About Us

TLETL represents over 600 elementary teachers from the Trillium Lakelands District School Board.  A Local of the the Elementary Teacher’s Federation of Ontario, TLETL strives to support our members by negotiating and upholding our collective  rights, supporting professional learning and opportunities, and advocating for well-funded and well-managed public education in our board and Province.  

Our Team

Kellie Kirkpatrick

President

Kellie has been an educator for over 30 years. She is a devoted and involved unionist, with involvement at all levels of her union. Kellie has sat on the Political Action, Status of Women, and Professional Learning committees, and has a passion for Collective Bargaining.

Mike De Rose

Vice President

Mike has been working in Education since 2006, and has sat on many committees, including Communications, Political Action, and Professional Learning. He aslo serves as the President of the North Simcoe Muskoka & District Labour Council.

Mark Janke

2nd Vice President (non-released)

Mark was born and lives in Muskoka with his wife and two children. He has been an educator for nearly 20 years primarily teaching grade 7/8. For the past 5 years he’s been an executive member of our local union, taking on the role of 2nd VP this school year. His goal is to continue helping local members obtain support for individual learning opportunities and use their voices to ensure our collective agreement is followed.

Shawn Forth

Executive Member

Shawn is a grade 2/3 teacher at Muskoka Falls P.S. He has been on the TLETL Executive since 2012. Shawn is currently the Executive Liaison to the Communications Committee and the Social Justice & Equity Issues Committee.

Amy Lugtenburg

Executive Member

Amy is an experienced educator from the CKL region. She has been an active member of her Local, sitting on multiple committees, including the Status of Women Committee, the Professional Learning Committee, and the Political Action Committee.

Catherine Mann

Executive Member

Catherine grew up in Muskoka and began teaching there in 1999. In 2006, she moved to CKL, where she continued her involvement in union activities. She has taught all elementary grades in some capacity, in 6 different schools in TLDSB, and has been a union steward for almost all of that time. She has been a member of the Professional Learning and the Collective Bargaining Committees and has also been a Health and Safety worker rep for several years. She joined the TLETL Executive in October of 2023 and is enjoying the opportunity to work on behalf of Members.

Leslie Orchard

Executive Member

Leslie has been in Education for over two decades as both an Educational Assistant and Teacher. She lives and works in Muskoka and has been a Union Steward for over 10 years. She is currently the Executive Liaison to the Social Activities Committee.
